Turnstyle & Stoke Set Designs for Fremont
Two Seattle-based brand + design firms, Turnstyle and Stoke, will break ground on a new 5,000 sq. foot office in Fremont. The building will serve as home for 20+ strategists, designers and developers. Located on Canal Street, the park-side project borders the Burke-Gilman Trail and overlooks the Fremont Cut waterway.
“The firms continue to grow, and our need for space was at odds with the long-term lease trends of Seattle,” said Stoke partner Erin Quick. “It makes good financial sense for the businesses, and for the firms’ practices. We’re creating a unique place where creative thinkers can do their best work, and clients can collaborate with us in new and different ways.”
On the street level, a cafe-style collaboration space serves as a foundation to two levels with open-floor studios and meeting space. Designed with 16’ floor-to-ceiling windows, the plan takes advantage of the views over the trail and canal.
“The work areas will be bathed with natural light. An open atrium at the center creates visual interest, with the benefit of passive solar design,” said Ben Graham, partner at Turnstyle. “It is a design-friendly environment that makes the best of our open, collaborative work style.”
“The commercial office market is racing, and the long-term value for buyers in Seattle looks good,” noted Graham. “As the business environment accelerates, having a place that minimizes our commutes, offers easy access to downtown, with everyday access to great restaurants, and enhances mobility options on the Burke-Gilman Trail – all with a deck and a view – seemed like a winning combination.”
The architecture was led by award-winning Heliotrope, of Ballard. Seattle’s Western Ventures serves as the general contractor.
Construction is targeted for completion in June, 2017.
